SitInKitchen

Mark Lewis as ML Design and Production 1987-93

The SitInKitchen was developed as a concept for people who cannot – or prefer not to – stand when using their kitchen.

Carcasses, worktop back panels, shelf units and doors are fabricated from 12mm solid Formica panels, available in a myriad of colours, supported on steel frames, each a standard K-bracket structure with sturdy easy grip adjustable feet.

The K bracket has the panels bolted to it, forming each of the furniture options.

A sink bench (with inset shallow bowel and drainer), hob bench, work top bench or corner bench for work top, sink or hob.

A nylon brush forms the under counter skirt, and transparent fridge tongues form the shelf unit curtain fronts.

The oven or fridge housings and drawer or cupboard units are box constructions set at a height accessible to a seated user as floor standing or hanging units.

The system is supplied flat pack to the format determined at the point of purchase and assembled by the fitter on site.

As with a professional catering facility, the kitchen walls, floor and services are prefinished ready to take the free standing units and benches, each with open sides and backs for easy access cleaning.

So robust is the system that it would be suitable for use in accommodations facilitating a multi shared use of a kitchen, in addition to a single or couples occupancy.
